IT was all glamour and glitz when Hair Beauty Soul picked up the runner-up in the coveted Australian Salon of the Year award.

For co-owners Otto Matousek and Michelle Micallef the award is ample reward for the hard work they and their staff have put in since the salon opened five years ago. They had earlier received the Australian Hairdresses Council’s Select Salon accreditation, capping another impressive year for the Rouse Hill outlet.

“We were finalists last year but to get the runners-up prize is a big honour,” Ms Micallef, of Stanhope Gardens, said. “To win this award was a great recognition for our staff as they as they have worked so hard towards delivering exceptional service along with a professional advice. “What I think that helped us achieve this goal this year is working on perfecting our client service through weekly training and staff coaching sessions.”

Mr Matousek, who received the award during their glittering ceremony in Queenstown, New Zealand, said the salon has enjoyed above industry average business growth over the last year, praising his staff for their high standards.

The salon’s staff include manager Laurie Morehu , Melissa Brown, Jenny Gafa, Rheannon Nicolaides, Bianca Sands, Jessica Geary and Stephanie Ruttley.
